Rode with the boy (Razor Scootering) out to a Scout meeting at the park. Saw a 3.5 foot garter snake (the second snake I’ve seen here so far). Rode back and had a good leisurely ride with the boy.

Did two circuits today. Rode longer and harder. Almost got hit by a car that was driving toward me on the wrong side of the road. Idiot! Saw quite a few folks out jogging. One guy had a small lantern and was jogging on Dante. Very dangerous. Need new brake pads.

Got up at 5:20am. A bit earlier made a big difference. More time = more miles and more exercise. Saw two joggers and a walker. I think I am seeing the same people but it's dark and all I can see are shapes. Too hard to see in some spots. I fear something being in the road I can't see. I need a much better headlight. Must do my research.

Rode out to Sterchi Mansion. Saw a fat guy riding past me on a motorized beach cruiser. That things was loud and smelly. He and everyone around him could have benefitted from no motor instead. Two dogs came running down from a house on the opposite hill. Bastards. I stood my ground, They stopped and I took my pic. Then I took off and they continued to chase me. I hate that people let their dogs roam free here.
Then it was off to the soccer fields. Got there and rolled up into the hills. I took the Left branch so I was headed west. This time I was looking for webs. I broke them if I saw them. One stretched across the trail and would have wrapped around my face if I hadn't broken it.
I continued as far as I could handle. It was getting overgrown and a little creepy. Headed back down and out of the forest. Talked to some folks who were headed for the dog park. They were interested in the trails. Cruised around the soccer field and found some wild Sumac. I wouldn't have know what it was but it was on Bizarre Foods. Ha! Then I headed home. I'm getting stronger. I felt like I could have ridden a few more hours at least.

Morning ride! It had rained the night before and it was just enough to clean my tires up. I need brake pads.Stupid dog left out for the night barked at me and I thought it was chasing me. It must have had an electric fence since it stopped at the edge of the yard.

Went on a good quick ride to the soccer fields. Went on a mission of discovery up north of the new soccer complex. Saw a couple walking their three dogs. Took a trail I had done before into the forest. Ran into an overgrown dead end. then rolled back. Hey... to the right was a new singletrack heading north into the mountain forest. It connected with a fork. I took it right and headed out that way almost to the end. Turned around and headed back. BEAUTIFUL forest singletrack wit lots or great twists and turns. Since I was pretty much the first in there, I got to break through some great spiderwebs. Continued to the west and hit one too many webs. I had to stop. I left some trail to be discovered next time. Headed home at a fast pace since we were going to go swimming. A great ride!!!

A short morning ride. I took too long to find my stuff to wear. Kept up my speed quite well. Only one walker. It was quiet. I love keeping my pace up. I love the relaxation in bed after. It is 15-20 minutes of endorphin wonderment (whatever that means.)

Took off for a downtown K-Town ride. Rolled around Downtown, Old City, the Warehouse District, Ft. Sanders, then on Campus and down to the waterfront. Took the bike path over the James White Parkway bridge and on to Ijams Nature Center. Before that, I stopped by a downed tree to look for turtles and fish. Instead, I saw a 3 foot snake come up from the depths to gulp some air and back down it went. Had a nice lunch of an energy bar and water. Then it was of to the end of the line in the Nature Refuge. A couple single track branched off from the end, but I figured I didn't want any ticks hitching a ride. I just rode back. It was so hot and humid it was like trying to breathe underwater. Took some shots for the south side and the JFG sign. Shot some kudzu and rolled over the Gay street bridge. Rode through Market Sq. Lots of activity there. Headed back to the car in the Market Sq. parking garage. It was just plain HOT!!!
