Rode to Rancho Park via the arroyo and back via LA ave. etc. It was a blast. Some off-roading to be had. Feel great, sore thighs all day. Remember, it's all uphill from the park back home. Forgot water bottle. Duh!

To Katherine / lower Knolls through neighborhoods and back. Technical difficulties near 7/11 Yosemite. Loose screws on chain ring making a lot of noise. Tightened. Feel great this is the first day of this. Realize that in doing this, it feels like I'm still on vacation.

(addition made dec 11.03):
Reasons for getting on the bike:
* I loved riding in the past and really missed it.
* I was offered a 12 mile ride on a full suspension bike in the most beautiful place in California, Lake Tahoe, and passed. After backing out on that ride for fear of dying because of being in poor shape at a high altitude, I was beside myself.
* I wanted to extend the vacation.
* I didn't want to be a bike burden on other, more seasoned cyclists, which I was.
I never would have thought I would be blessed with that and MORE six months down the road, literally. I'll eventually do that Tahoe ride, but so far, I am quite pleased with how everything has gone.
